Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, Deputy Representative Steven Tai and other officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore attended the OUE Singapore Open 2017 on 16 April to cheer on Taiwan's Tai Tzu-ying. Women's world No. 1 Tai Tzu-ying did not disappoint by beating second-ranked Carolina Marin of Spain to win the OUE Singapore Open Championship.
Representative Liang congratulated Tzu-ying and her coach, Mr. Jiang-Chen Lai on the victory and thanked them for bringing pride to Taiwan and fellow Taiwanese. This is Tzu-ying’s third consecutive win this year, having won the All England Open and the Malaysia Open earlier. Tzu-ying is also the first women's singles player to pick up five straight Superseries titles since lifting the Hong Kong Open last November. The news of her latest win received wide coverage in Singapore’s Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao on 17 April 2017.
