Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang hosted a lunch reception for Mr. Stephen Leong Chun Hong and Mr. Yong Cheong Thye, respectively the President and Vice-President of the Federation of Art Societies Singapore (FASS), and Mr. Seah Kang Chui, President of the Singapore Watercolour Society, on 11 May 2017. During the lunch meeting, they discussed ideas on promoting art and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Singapore.
Representative Liang conveyed his appreciation to FASS for helping to promote the friendship bonds between Taiwan and Singapore through organizing the 2017 Singapore-Taiwan International Art Exchange Exhibition. To be held from 24 to 27 May 2017 at the MCI building, the exhibition will feature works of 15 Taiwanese artists and 20 FASS members.
Representative Liang also shared with the Singapore artists Taiwan’s Art Bank Program, one of the recent initiatives by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture to support artists in the country. Through an open collection program, the artworks collected by the Art Bank are then leased to external parties for public displays, both locally and internationally, to enable greater public understanding and appreciation of Taiwan’s art. This initiative was met with cheers from the Singapore artists as they believe that it would help to boost art appreciation among the public as well as creativity of the artists.
