On 13 July 2017, 60 high school students on the R.O.C. - Singapore Student Exchange Program who were accompanied by their teachers and a school inspector of Taipei City’s Department of Education called on Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang. Representative Liang welcomed the group and hoped that during their stint in Singapore, the students would learn from their Singaporean hosts the traits of being law-abiding and living harmoniously with people of different races and religions. He also urged the students to seize this opportunity to improve their English, broaden their horizons, and enhance their international perspectives and intercultural understanding. To give the students a better understanding of Singapore, Representative Liang briefed the students on the country’s major policies, including its public housing, Central Provident Fund and hawker centers.
Established in 1983, the R.O.C. - Singapore Student Exchange Program is in its 34th year. Students on the program will be in Singapore from 11 to 26 July 2017. In order to experience how Singaporeans study and live, the students will be attending lessons at junior colleges, including Hwa Chong Institution, Temasek Junior College, National Junior College, Raffles Junior College and Victoria Junior College, and living with Singaporean host families.
