MOC announces subsidy program for Taiwan’s popular music shows

The Ministry of Culture (MOC) announced the “one plus four T-content plan” (文化黑潮計畫) subsidy program for Taiwan’s popular music shows on Jan. 8, aiming to promote Taiwanese pop music internationally and cultivate talents in the music industry. The application will open from Jan. 10 to Mar. 11.

The criteria of the subsidy for popular music shows include the proposed production should be at least 10 episodes, with a cost of at least NT$6 million per episode. The subsidy amount is up to 40 percent of the estimated production cost.

The ministry also encourages the applicants to collaborate with international partners, including widely acclaimed musical awards, musical shows, production companies, and streaming platforms, for participation, investment, or co-production.

The MOC has worked with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (文策院) to conduct investment reviews on the application. Once the application passes both the subsidy and investment review, it is officially selected for the program.

Culture Minister Shih Che highlighted that, with the launch of this program, the ministry hopes to set the stage for the next generation of stars who will shine on the global stage.
