NTSO International Youth Orchestra Camp to perform in Thailand in August

The 2024 International Youth Orchestra Camp organized by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is scheduled to take place from Aug. 15 to 20. After the camp participants finish their intensive training, they will perform at four concerts, two of which will be staged in Taiwan on Aug. 21 and 23, and another two in Thailand on Aug. 25 and 26.

The International Youth Orchestra Camp offers an invigorating environment for outstanding young musicians to take lessons from experienced musicians and most sought-after teachers, and to join in the youth orchestra to perform in major concert halls.

NTSO Director Liu Suan-yung (劉玄詠) said that they invited emerging Taiwanese musicians to collaborate in the camp, including award-winning conductor Brian Liao (廖元宏) and the U.S.-based cellist Chen Nan-cheng (陳南呈).

Last November, the NTSO organized a trip to visit Thailand and received great applause for their performances there. This year, two concerts for the camp are scheduled in Thailand besides the concerts in Taiwan. The shows will be held at the Taiwan Association of Thailand on Aug. 25 and the Silpakorn University on Aug. 26.
