Ambassador Douglas Hsu, along with colleagues, formed a running team representing the embassy on May 5th, to actively engage in the Canberra MS Walk Run+Roll charity event. This initiative served as a tangible demonstration of support for Taiwan's involvement in the World Health Assembly (WHA) and its aspiration to join the World Health Organization (WHO). Members of the Taiwanese community in Canberra enthusiastically participated in the run or contributed through online donations, thereby bolstering Taiwan's presence and recognition in WHO-related endeavors within Australia.
Ambassador Hsu emphasised Taiwan's commitment to global betterment. Recognised globally for its adept pandemic prevention strategies, particularly amidst the challenges posed by Covid-19, Taiwan stands ready to collaborate with the international community in advancing global health and welfare. Ambassador Hsu urged global support for Taiwan's professional, pragmatic, and meaningful particpation in the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Health Assembly (WHA).
The primary objective of the event is to enhance awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) within Australian communities. Annually, fundraising running and walking events are organised in prominent cities such as Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Launceston, and various other locations. Funds raised are directed towards providing essential care and social support to individuals afflicted by MS and their families. Notably, this year's event in Canberra garnered participation from over 500 individuals and 84 teams, underscoring its significant impact and reach.
