MOFA Vice Minister Leo Chen-jan Lee gives news conference for launch of 2017 International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program

Leo Chen-jan Lee, vice minister of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave a news conference for the launch of the 2017 International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program at the MOFA’s Department of International Information Services April 18 in Taipei City.

During the event, Vice Minister Lee urged students from colleges and universities from around Taiwan to waste no time in signing up for this year’s edition of the MOFA-organized program themed New Taiwan Generation, New Southbound Vision.

A total of 75 youth ambassadors will be divided into three teams, with each team visiting two countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. In addition to taking part in activities arranged as part of the official itinerary, the youth ambassadors will visit leading universities and think tanks, as well as serve as volunteers with communities and charities in the host countries.

Through a platform of comprehensive exchanges and interactions, the youth ambassadors can develop a deeper understanding of the culture, society and politics of the countries. This will cultivate more talents for initiatives under the New Southbound Policy while promoting Taiwan’s image as a caring and responsible member of the international community.
