An event aimed at enhancing the digital capacity of female and young entrepreneurs under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum kicked off Nov. 16 in Taipei City, with representatives from 17 member states joining discussions to address related challenges.

Organized by the Ministry of Education and held in a hybrid in-person and online format, the three-day APEC Forum on Entrepreneurship for the Future of Work focuses on expanding digital inclusion for women and youth to advance economic prosperity and sustainable development in the region.

According to the MOE, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely disrupted the economy and labor markets across the region, with women and the young among the hardest-hit members of the workforce.

The MOE said that as sectors speed up digital transformation, it is imperative to help these two labor groups enhance related capabilities and knowledge so they can adapt to the rapidly changing, tech-driven business environment.

The forum features speeches on the latest entrepreneurship trends; experience sharing on launching digital health care startups; and panel discussions on entrepreneurship program best practices, female entrepreneurship, resources and special support, the MOE said.

Other highlights include a speech by Digital Minister Audrey Tang on Taiwan’s policymaking for the future of work, as well as a startup contest conferring consultations with successful entrepreneurs and finance and market opportunity matching, the ministry added. (SFC-E)
