A total of 15 cryogenic ISO tanks was donated by Taiwan to India May 5, underscoring the commitment of the public and private sectors to assisting the New Southbound Policy target country combat COVID-19.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with Taoyuan City Government, India Taipei Association and the local unit of India-headquartered Adani Group, the donation follows the recently delivered love from Taiwan shipment of 150 oxygen concentrators and 500 oxygen cylinders.

MOFA Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu said during the donation ceremony—also attended by Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan and ITA Director-General Gourangalal Das—that Taiwan is cooperating closely with India and other like-minded partners in strengthening the global response to the pandemic. This involves sharing related know-how and resources in a timely manner, he added.

According to Wu, the donation of the 20-foot tanks used for transporting liquid oxygen spotlights successful cooperation partnership between Taoyuan City and Adani Group. It also reflects well on the generosity of the group’s Taiwan representative Chang Chien-ting, he said.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “Minister Wu presided over the donation of 15 ISO tanks by Taoyuan City & Adani Group. Presented by Mayor Cheng to Rep. Das, the #TaiwanCanHelp tanks pair with the #LoveFromTaiwan oxygen concentrators & cylinders. #Taiwan is #India's partner in combating #COVID19 & saving lives.”

A key plank in the government’s national development strategy, the NSP seeks to enhance Taiwan’s agricultural, business, cultural, education, tourism and trade ties with the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states, six South Asian countries, Australia and New Zealand. (DL-E)
