On 27 January 2018, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang attended the opening reception for “Theatre of Reality: Solo Exhibition of Chou Ching-Hui’ at the invitation of DECK, whose mission is to deepen the appreciation for art photography in the region. Mr. Chou’s exhibition marks the first time a Taiwanese photographer is invited by DECK to showcase his works in Singapore.
During the guided tour of the exhibition, Representative Liang was accompanied by Ms. Gwen Lee, co-founder and director of Singapore International Photography Festival and DECK gallery, and briefed by Mr. Chou Ching-Hui about the photographic and documentary works on display.
“Theatre of Reality” features 45 pieces in 3 innovative series of Mr. Chou’s photographic works. The exhibition includes his documentary works on the life of leper patients in Le Sheng (樂生) Leprosy Hospital, “Fined Taipei”- a study of traffic photographs serving as evidence for monetary fines and also presents “Animal Farm” as his alternative approaches to comprehend and record the conditions of the world we live in. This exhibition will run till 25 February 2018.
