To commemorate the Eid al-Fitr and build a Muslim-friendly city, Taipei City Government will be holding a fair at Daan Forest Park on Sunday, June 17. The organizers invite migrant workers, Muslims, and local residents to visit the fair to celebrate for an opportunity to experience Muslim food and culture!
 
For Muslims, the Ramadan consists of an entire month of fasting between sunrise and sunset. This is an obligation for more than 1.5 billion followers of Islam around the world. The Ramadan ends with the Eid al-Fitr, which is a religious observance marked by visits and get-togethers with friends and relatives. The festivities and feastings are comparable to the Chinese New Year holidays in Taiwan.  
 
Eid al-Fitr/Idul Fitri Prayer Sessions
 
This year, the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) is working with both Taipei Grand Mosque and Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei in organizing prayer sessions for the faithful to mark the end of Ramadan.
 
The Eid al-Fitr prayer session will take place at Taipei Grand Mosque starting at 8 AM on either Friday, June 15 or Saturday, June 16. The exact date will depend on confirmation by the Taipei Grand Mosque determined in the evening of June 14. Muslim residents, migrant workers, and expats are invited to attend the session.
 
The Idul Fitri (or Lebaran) prayer session, targeting primarily migrant workers from Indonesia, will be held at the Taipei Travel Plaza between 6 AM and 9 AM on Friday, June 15.
 
The Muslim Carnival at Daan Forest Park
 
This year, the Eid celebration is also marked by the first Muslim Carnival taking place at Daan Forest Park on Sunday, June 17. The organizers have invited merchants and businesses to set up over 60 stalls at the venue, offering a range of goods and services, including household supplies, Islamic treats and delicacies, and hands-on cultural experiences.
 
There will also be performances by various groups at the main event stage throughout the day, including Asad Oriental Dance, TabRaqs, renowned singers from Indonesia, migrant worker bands, and more!
