Lantern festivals are traditionally held on Lantern Day as part of the Lunar New Year celebrations. Combining traditional cultural elements with modern technology, Taiwan Lantern Festival presents itself as a shining fest comparable with its international counterparts.
With a total area of 532 hectares, Dapeng Bay is the largest lagoon located on the southwest coastline of Taiwan and home to Taiwan's most southerly mangroves. The bay has been chosen as the main lantern area for the 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival.
The Donggang area, where seafood resources are abundant, used to feature a large-sized oyster bed. Tourists can take a cruising trip on a yacht to Oyster Shell Island in the bay, and personally experience oyster planting scenes from the past.
The Bay area is going to be one of the best places for aquatic activities in southern Taiwan. It is equipped with the island's one-and-only racing ground, where tourists may ride a futuristic two-wheeled Segway or drive as fast as they like with an imported Italian Karting car. They may also take a mini train to explore the old military sites. There are beach cars available for tourists to run through the sands.
