Grammy Awards nomination spotlights beauty of Taiwan's culture

:::

Taiwanese designer Qing-yang Xiao has been nominated for an award in the category of best recording package at the 2019 Grammy Awards for his work on rock band The Chairman's album "The Offering." At a press conference called in advance of the artists' departure to attend the event, Premier Su Tseng-chang offered his best wishes for a win that would bring honor and prestige to Taiwan.

The premier noted that the album had already helped The Chairman claim the award for best group at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards in 2018. He said that Xiao's Grammy nomination not only allows Taiwan to shine on the international stage, but also spotlights for the world the nation's talent and the beauty of local culture.

Expressing his regard for culture and the development of music, Premier Su applauded the Ministry of Culture for taking this opportunity to provide resources and bring music to the people. He said that in addition to giving Taiwanese in the U.S. a chance to hear the sounds of home, Xiao and The Chairman's participation in the Grammy Awards lets the American public appreciate the excellence of Taiwan's performers, music and design.
