Teaching in Taiwan Program Website
In an effort to enhance the English learning environment for school-aged children in rural areas, the Taiwan Ministry of Education has been actively recruiting qualified teachers to teach in K-9 public schools in Taiwan. This program has two goals. One is to broaden English immersion experiences of Taiwan’s young minds. The other is to establish inter-school relationship between English speaking countries and Taiwan. Benefits for Program teachers include round-trip airfare, a housing stipend, overtime pay, health insurance, and a monthly salary based on educational background and teaching experience. The teaching duration is one academic year; contracts may be renewed subject to agreement between teachers and schools.
Qualification Required
All applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the application:
1. A native speaker of English from United States, Canada, England, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, or other countries where English is an official language.
2. A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with the exception of degrees having half or more of the courses completed online or through distance learning/correspondence.
3. A qualified teacher
4. Committed to abiding by the laws and regulations of Taiwan
5. Competent in interpersonal communication skills
6. Understanding of, and respectful toward the local culture
7. Willing to teach in rural areas
Required Documents
Application Form (completed, signed and dated by the applicant)
Resume (printed in ink or typed)
Three Letters of Recommendation (signed and dated by applicant’s references)
Proof of Teaching Experience (must have work situation and duration specified and be signed by former or current employers)
Transcript (required if applicant has graduated within the last two years)
A copy of the applicant’s passport
A copy of the applicant’s diploma (highest degree obtained)
A copy of the applicant’s valid teaching license
