Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang attended the Koh Leng Association’s 69th anniversary celebration on 15 June 2019 at the invitation of its president, Mr. Lee Chye Hong. Also present at the dinner reception were Singapore’s Pioneer Cabinet Minister Ong Pang Boon, President of the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan Chua Kee Seng, delegates from Kinmen County and officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore. The event saw guests filling the seats of 40 tables.
In his address, Representative Liang commended the early Koh Leng pioneers who had braved various challenges and obstacles to build new homes, and whose tireless efforts have also contributed to Singapore’s development. He also called on association members to draw strength from unity and to tap on technology to build a community featuring mutual support and solidarity.
The Koh Leng Association serves as a focal point for the Kinmen descendants residing in Singapore to meet and celebrate their heritage and significant cultural events. During the anniversary dinner celebration, bursaries for primary, secondary and undergraduate students were presented to deserving recipients.
