Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development (DOED) regularly holds the Taipei Entrepreneur Club Gathering to locate resources for entrepreneurs in Taipei and foster exchanges among the startups! In supporting the New Southbound Policy, the “Southbound All the Way – Key to Success” gathering was held in conjunction with the Executive Yuan’s Taiwan Start-up Hub in the afternoon of August 27. Through this event, it is expected to help startups understand investment resources and environments, both domestic and aboard, and foster more cooperative opportunities using corporate experiences in New Southbound countries!

According to the DOED, with new developments in the domestic and foreign economic and trade environments, Taiwanese OEM manufacturers based in ASEAN and South Asian countries are forging bilateral industry and trade collaborations with New Southbound nations. As a result, marketing hurdles across different industries have been lowered through cross-border e-commerce resources, and they have shown a high level of interest in forming strategic alliances with international corporations.

Taipei Entrepreneur Club member STARTBOARD COO Lin Chih-fu kicked off the meeting by sharing how the company assists foreign startups in Taiwan while fostering communication between both parties in order to bridge business opportunities. Next, Rooit CEO Hsu Po-chun commented that one must locate pending problems immediately when investing in an overseas market. Taking the company as an example, Rooit app’s chat platform resolves the issue of communication on international social media through the soft power of AI smart technology, thereby creating an expanding market.

According to Deputy Secretary Tsai Shun-ta of the Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei, the association and DOED both provide cross-border e-commerce resources and services, and they are shared to the businesses in Taiwan so that they may inspire Taipei entrepreneurs to engage in innovative marketing and management thinking by sharing Taiwanese enterprises’ approach to transforming and upgrading cross-border e-commerce. In addition, Taiwan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) Deputy Systems Coordinator Wu Hsiao-mei explained the Ministry of Science and Technology’s TTA x TIEC Pitch and Match program, which includes 10 major fields, such as biomedicine, healthcare, AI, robotics, green energy and environmental protection, fintech, blockchain, IoT, software and smartphone app, and semiconductors, inviting investors and enterprises to collaborate. In turn, the government will become a great partner of startups by creating a friendlier, more innovative entrepreneurial environment.

The event brings together resources from near and far, encouraging entrepreneurs to work together in order to unleash their business potential. A total of 25 entrepreneurs from 18 enterprises participated in the event.
