Re: Encouraging all Residents and Long-term Visitors in the Philippines to Receive an Additional Dose of IPV 4 Weeks to 12 Months Prior to Departure for Taiwan

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines has recently received many enquiries from Philipinos about if a certificate of vaccination for polio is needed when they enter Taiwan. According to Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, the infectious vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2s (cVDPV2s) in the Philippines has potential risk of international spread. Taiwan Centers for Disease Control “encourages” all residents and long-term visitors in the Philippines to receive an additional dose of IPV 4 weeks to 12 months prior to their departure for Taiwan.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines would like to clarify that the encouragement mentioned above is not mandatory. Tentatively, no polio vaccination certificate is required for travelers bound for Taiwan.
