On 21 November 2019, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang graced the 67th Anniversary Dinner cum 29th “Respect the Elderly Celebration” of the Singapore Gnoh Kung Association as the guest of honor. Over 200 persons, including the Association’s board and members, and seniors accompanied by their families attended the event.
In his dinner address at the celebration, Representative Liang highlighted the strength and courage of the forefathers who had braved hardship and great risk to make Singapore their new home. In its 67 years, the Singapore Gnoh Kung Association has played an important role in community bonding, and its pioneer and current members have made significant contributions towards the development of Singapore. Representative Liang also praised the Association’s “Respect the Elderly Celebration” as a profoundly meaningful activity.
In the address by Chairman Lee of the Singapore Gnoh Kung Association, he emphasized the sacrifices of the forefathers and the arduous work involved in the setting up the association. He also expressed his thanks to Representative Liang for the gift of Taiwanese pineapple tarts for all the seniors in attendance. Representative Liang and Chairman Lee also presented the seniors with red packets and goody bags amidst performances by community leaders, and entertainers from Singapore and Malaysia.
