Krishan Varma, former Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, said in his article “Technology partners: A case for India-Taiwan-US cooperation” published by The Sunday Guardian on May 24 said Taiwan is India’s invaluable asset as India urgently needs access to technologies with minimum barriers of license and export restrictions in order to upscale its manufacturing base on the inside and counter China’s increasingly assertive moves on the outside.
He said India needs to build a stable, strengthened and mutually beneficial bilateral relationship with Taiwan for the enhancement in its trade, investment, scientific and innovation technology sectors. In addition, a sustained, long-term India-Taiwan partnership in trade and advanced technologies that aligns with the US is also imperative in the post-Covid world, he said.
