CECC confirms 1 more COVID-19 case; Philippine woman found to have COVID-19 upon arrival

On September 20, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced one new confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The new case is a Philippine woman in her 30s (Case #507). The woman traveled to Taiwan for work from the Philippines on September 18.

The CECC reported that the case showed no symptoms when she entered Taiwan. After airport quarantine officers collected specimen from her, the case was taken to a group quarantine facility. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 20. The case is currently hospitalized in isolation for medical treatment.

The CECC also reported that a cumulative total of 91,555 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 90,461. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 507 cases. Of the 507 confirmed cases, 415 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; and 1 case has unknown sources of infection. Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 479 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 21 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
