Representative Anne Hung of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia donated nearly a hundred books published in Taiwan to the Institute of China Studies (ICS), University of Malaya at a handover ceremony hosted by ICS Director Dr. Ngeow Chow Bing on 17 December.
“These books authored by Taiwanese scholars cover a wide range of topics from diplomacy, military, cross-Straits relations, area studies to mainland China’s political developments and economy, which may provide ICS researchers with diversified and pluralistic viewpoints for their research works,” Representative Hung added. She also emphasized that Taiwan will continue strengthening collaboration with the University of Malaya in academic and education exchanges under the “people-centered” approach of the New South Policy.
ICS Director Dr. Ngeow expressed his gratitude to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia for the sponsorship in the purchase of these books. He indicated that ICS will benefit enormously from these books, and the books will also help the ICS to prepare for future research projects relevant to studies on Taiwan.
Professor Datuk Dr. Danny Wong Tze Ken, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya attended the handover ceremony on behalf of the University. ICS faculty and staff are also present.
