On December 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. The two new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines and the United States.  

Case #795 is an over 30-year-old male migrant worker from the Philippines. The Filipino migrant worker traveled to Taiwan to work on December 14. After entry, he stayed at a group quarantine facility to undergo quarantine. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. The Filipino man was tested for COVID-19 on December 27, before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 29.

Case #796 is an over 30-year-old man from India. The Indian man lived in the United States for an extended period of time. He was hired to work in Taiwan and arrived in Taiwan from the United States on December 13. After entry, he stayed at a quarantine hotel to undergo quarantine. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since entry. After completing the quarantine period, the company he worked for arranged for him to be tested for COVID-19 on December 28. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 29.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 125,024 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 122,673. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 795 cases. Of the 795 confirmed cases, 700 are imported; 56 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 661 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 127 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
