CECC confirms 2 more COVID-19 cases; two asymptomatic Philippine migrant workers found to have COVID-19 before end of quarantine period

On December 30, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Both cases, Case #797 and Case #798, arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines.

Case #797 and Case #798 are two female Philippine migrant workers in their 20s. The two migrant workers traveled to Taiwan to work on December 15 and December 16. After arrival, they stayed at group quarantine facilities to undergo quarantine. They haven't developed symptoms since arrival. The two female migrant workers were tested for COVID-19 on December 28 and December 29 respectively, before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on December 30.
