MOFA to reinstate visa-exempt entry scheme for nationals of the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, European countries, and diplomatic allies starting September 12 in accordance with CECC measures « Details on announcement dated: 06 September 2022 »
Foreign nationals who wish to travel to Taiwan but do not meet the requirements for visa-exempt entry should ensure that their purpose of travel is among the reasons for entry currently allowed by the CECC. They must prepare relevant documents and apply for a special entry permit (visa) at an R.O.C. (Taiwan) overseas mission.

Special Entry Permit requirement
• Visa Application Form (Complete Online Form - General Visa Application, then print out with signature)
• Applicant’s passport – original (still valid for more than 6 months)
• Passport photo x2 (taken within 3 months)
• Australia Visa Grant Notice (if not Australian)
• Permit from Taiwan government (if applicable)
• Other support documents that meet the purpose of this travel
• Fees: A$72.00 (Card payment on spot or Money Order by post, make payable to: Taipei Economic and Cultural Office)
• Prepaid return Register/Express Post envelope (if not pick up in person)
Application can be made in person or via post.

About Quarantine
Starting from Sept. 1, inbound travellers will be able to conduct self-initiated epidemic prevention (under the principle of one person per room) in the comfort of their own homes or those of relatives or friends after completing three days of quarantine.
- Travelers can stay in the same residence as others, but must have their own room with a separate bathroom.
- Travelers will no longer have to request a change of location from the local government.
- A person undergoing self-initiated epidemic prevention can’t stay at an ordinary hotel.
- Inbound travelers cannot meet these requirements, must stay in an epidemic prevention(quarantine) hotel.
