CECC confirms 2 more imported COVID-19 cases; two cases arrive in Taiwan from Myanmar and Indonesia

On February 10, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those two new cases (Case #935 and Case #936) arrived in Taiwan from Myanmar and Indonesia, respectively.

Case #935 is a Taiwanese man in his 60s. This man traveled to Myanmar for work in January 2020. He tested positive for COVID-19 in Myanmar on December 29. He took an international air ambulance back to Taiwan on February 7, 2021. After arrival in Taiwan, he was admitted to an isolation ward to be treated. He was given a COVID-19 test in the hospital, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 10.

Case #936 is an over 40-year-old man from Indonesia. The Indonesian man traveled to Taiwan for work on January 24. After completing the quarantine period, he visited to the hospital to take a self-paid test. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 10.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 166,625 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 163,348. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 935 cases. Of the 935 confirmed cases, 819 are imported; 77 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 9 deaths, and 853 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 73 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
