National Immigration Agency (NIA), New Taipei City Brigade, Thailand Trade and Economic Office, Labor Affairs Department, New Taipei City Government, and police stations collaborate to encourage foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers to receive free vaccination,

Recently, representatives of government agencies visited the construction site in Zhonghe District of New Taipei City, caring about the living conditions of migrant workers and providing a listening ear to more than 30 Thai migrant workers in Taiwan. Besides, laws & regulations and the migrant workers’ rights and interests were promoted as well.

Until the end of November this year, the number of migrant workers in Taiwan reaches 675,672, and there were 88,826 migrant workers in New Taipei City. Among them, 6,709 were Thai migrant workers, making it the fourth-largest group of migrant workers among all.

As the pandemic situation has stabilized in Taiwan, Thailand Trade and Economic Office has resumed the publicity campaign for Thai migrant workers. The Director of Labor Affairs Department, Peng Xian Rui (彭仙蕊), reminded migrant workers to pay attention to their health and their rights and interests such as salary, labor insurance and pensions, and urged migrant workers to be careful not to violate laws by mistake.

The team leader of the New Taipei City Brigade, Zhuang Yi Qiang (莊懿強), said that the Brigade’s duties include law enforcement, caring for migrant workers and assisting foreign nationals. He also appealed to the migrant workers that please do not become undocumented, so that they can enjoy health insurance and labor insurance rights.

NIA is promoting the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” for foreign nationals, and emphasizing the four principles of the program, including “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, and “won’t be banned”. From now until January 31, 2022, regardless of whether individuals are undocumented workers or overstayers, everyone is eligible for free vaccination with peace of mind.
