The Hualien County New Residents Family Service Center recently launched the "Xin Xiang Markets", which brings together different ethnic groups and arranges wonderful performances to guide public to get to know the new residents.

At the market site, there are 8 new resident community service bases and 1 new resident academy to perform cultural performances, showcase the achievements of multicultural advocacy, and arrange new residents to set up delicious exotic food stalls to guide the public to understand the rich culture that new residents bring to Hualien; The event started with the new resident’s second generation and guests joining hands to put representative ingredients from various countries into the dumplings, symbolizing the integration of diversity. The legend of eating dumplings is said to commemorate the start of the Pangu clan and end the chaotic (Hun Dun) state, and the second is to take its homonym ‘Hun Dun’ which means "Liang Shi Hun Dun (full of food)".

The New Residents Family Service Center and the New Resident Community Service Center specially designed cultural experience activities such as food, handicrafts, and children’s toys and new residents in the county brought exotic dishes from their hometowns such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Mainland China to challenge everyone’s taste buds.

In addition, during The Migrants Day activities, in order to give the new residents who usually shoulder the burden of the family a time to breathe, the ‘Children Play Area’ was carefully planned, so that the children participating in the market activities could share big balls and umbrellas, bubble worlds and balloons folding under the leadership of professional performer Egghead Brother on the grass, making the atmosphere livelier. There is a consultation desk on site for new residents to take advantage of to consult on issues related to their own rights and interests.

The Director of Hualien Society, Chen Jia-Fu, said that inviting new residents and service network partners to participate in the International Migrants Day activities showcased the achievements of the Government in creating a friendly living environment, and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the supporter of creating a friendly and diverse environment. New residents can take root in Hualien and become a force for families and communities to create a better life, so that the society can become more and more diverse and strong, to recognize and value their strengths and potential. Sincere gratitude to the new residents for enriching the culture of Hualien.
