On January 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 21,737 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 21,737 new cases, 21,384 are domestic and 353 are imported. The CECC announced 53 deaths today.

Regarding the 21,384 new domestic cases, 9,636 are male and 11,739 are female, while the gender of the other 9 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,412 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,780 in Taichung City, 2,493 in Taoyuan City, 2,435 in Taipei City, 2,406 in Kaohsiung City, 1,613 in Tainan City, 875 in Changhua County, 676 in Hsinchu County, 538 in Hsinchu City, 481in Miaoli County, 445 in Pingtung County, 370 in Keelung City, 370 in Yunlin County, 347 in Yilan County, 277 in Nantou County, 270 in Chiayi County, 178 in Chiayi City, 162 in Hualien County, 115 in Taitung County, 97 in Kinmen County, 43 in Penghu County, and one in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 53 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 29 men and 24 women ranging in age from 10 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 353 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 13, 2022, and January 12, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,177,321 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,007,223. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,167,811 cases. Of the 9,167,811 confirmed cases, 44,531 are imported; 9,123,226 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,755 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,755 deaths, 15,736 are from domestic cases and the other 19 are from imported cases.
