With Local Gifts, Tainan Mayor Welcomes Young Players From Twelve Countries to the 2023 U-12 Baseball World Cup

The 2023 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup tournament officially kicks off on July 28th and the young athletes from the twelve competing nations started to arrive in Tainan on July 26th. To welcome them and wish them all the best, Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-che gifted local cultural and creative gifts that represent “success and victory” to the players. These include Koxinga potato chips, Confucius snack noodles as well as Zuojhen mango pudding and Liuying caramels, all of which highlight Tainan’s strong local agricultural capabilities.

The Mayor expressed that this is the fifth U-12 Baseball World Cup tournament hosted by the Tainan City Government. He is very happy to see teams from all over the world in Tainan again and invited the public to come and cheer the players on. Mayor Huang also mentioned that cultural activities are arranged on the competition’s rest day so that the young players can have a taste of Tainan outside of baseball games. Finally, he reminded all that there will be a series of Tainan 400 events next year and invited the young players to return to Tainan and experience the special historical moment.

The 7th WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2023 will be held from July 28 to August 6 at the main and secondary junior baseball fields of the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadiums and Training Centers. This year’s participating teams come from a total of twelve countries (Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, and Australia) in four continents: Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.
