24th Biennale of Sydney features Taiwan Spotlight Event

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Sydney, Australia, collaborates with the Biennale of Sydney to present the Taiwan Spotlight Event. The inaugural ceremony took place at the University of New South Wales Galleries on Mar. 7.

During the ceremony, Barbara Moore, the Executive Director of the Biennale of Sydney, emphasized this year’s theme, “Ten Thousand Suns,” which signifies multiculturalism, multiple histories, and festive celebrations as forms of resistance. She highlighted the pivotal role of TECO in Sydney in connecting Taiwanese artists to the Biennale, announcing the participation of Idas Losin and Li Jiun-yang (李俊陽) to showcase their works.

David Wu Cheng-wei (吳正偉), the Director General of TECO in Sydney, noted the shared diversity of indigenous communities between Taiwan and Australia, each with its unique cultural heritage and traditions. He hopes that through this event, Taiwan’s cultural diversity will be further appreciated by the Australian audience.

The Biennale of Sydney is open from Mar. 9 to June 10, featuring artists and art groups from over 50 countries across seven exhibition halls. For more information, please visit the Biennale’s website
