Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs Deputy Minister Chen Cherng-chyi led a delegation to the 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Energy Ministerial Meeting Aug. 15-16 in Lima, Peru to share experience in renewable energy development.

Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chen Chern-chyi led a delegation to Peru to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s 14th Energy Ministerial Meeting, highlighting the importance the government places on sustainability and the clean energy transition.

The Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) hosted the APEC Digital Innovation to Implement SMEs Low-Carbon Transformation Workshop on June 12-13.

Taiwan is committed to implementing stricter trade standards to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership while urging the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation member economies to address the issue of unfair trade competition, according to Minister without Portfolio Yang Jen-ni.

Hosted by the Ocean Affairs Council, the APEC Workshop on Fostering Women’s Economic Empowerment for a Resilient Marine Industry kicked off today (May 6) at the Fulong Visitor Center in New Taipei City. Over two days, government officials, experts, scholars, and representatives from non-profit organizations from nine APEC member economies, including Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, and Taiwan, gathered for discussions.

The workshop, organized by the Ocean Affairs Council, continued on May 7th at the Chaojin Intelligent Ocean (iOCEAN) within the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST) in Keelung City.

Deputy Director-General Wu Chia-ying of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA), Ministry of Economic Affairs led a delegation to attend the 57th APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Working Group Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia, from April 24th to 25th. Gogolook Co., Ltd. joined the meeting along with the delegation, and shared how the public-private partnership (PPP) mechanism has increased startup opportunities in the international market.

As a result of their geographic proximity, Taiwan and the Philippines are exposed to similar types of ­natural disasters, and both countries face severe challenges from extreme weather. These shared risks have prompted Taiwan and the Philippines to engage in collaborative scientific research.

The 60th meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies is taking place April 24-25 in the southern city of Kaohsiung, spotlighting member economies’ joint commitment to sustainable development.
