Third wave of Omicron infections continues to subside with average of 10,439 new domestic cases daily in last week; CECC confirms 37 new cases of Omicron subvariants

On March 9, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced an average of 10,609 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) per day over the last week (March 3-9). Of these confirmed cases, 10,439 were domestic and 170 were imported. The CECC also reported an average of 52 deaths per day in the last week. There is a downward trend in the number of confirmed cases compared to the previous week.
