Ms. Christina Chen, Taiwan-born artist resident in Singapore, held an exhibition entitled “Flowers in Bloom, Butterflies Cometh” on 19 September 2018. In his brief remarks, guest of honor Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang said the art exhibition reflects the growing cultural and art exchanges between Singapore and Taiwan, and expressed his hope for still more of such exchanges and creative collaborations as Taiwan continues to promote its “New Southbound Policy”.

Representative Francis Liang also took the opportunity to speak on the exhibition of Taiwanese contemporary arts which is being held at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore. The exhibition features 38 artworks by 29 young Taiwanese artists. These artworks, which are purchased under the “Art Bank program”, provides a platform for budding Taiwanese artists to extend their reach beyond Taiwan.

Ms. Christina Chen, who hails from Pingtung, Taiwan, has been residing in Singapore for over 30 years. More than 80 pieces of her artworks in oil, contemporary color ink and creative calligraphy were on display at the exhibition. Christina’s artworks, whether elaborate or simple, are a showcase of her multiple talents, tireless efforts and positive attitude towards life.
