Child-Friendly Communities through Creative Learning Centre Model in India

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the R.O.C. (Taiwan), the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in Chennai facilitated the launch of a program called “Child-Friendly Communities through Creative Learning Centre Model in India” supported by Taiwan Alliance in International Development (Taiwan Aid) and the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC).

On the morning of 30th July 2019, Director-General Mr. Charles Li of TECC in Chennai was invited to launch the programme held at Government Higher Secondary School, Thiruvallur (TL) district, Tamil Nadu. Mrs. Juliana Chin, Deputy Director also joined the ceremony. The program is implemented by the Integrated Rural Community Development Society (IRCDS) in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Department of Education, Department of Rural Development of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvallur District Legal Service Authority and District Child Protection Unit and District Child Welfare Committee, teachers, parents and students of several schools in Thiruvallur District.

The program is a comprehensive plan for the children’s protection of their rights and their development – providing a quality of education,child-friendly livelihood and training especially for girl children, financed by the government of Taiwan, supported by the government of Tamil Nadu, international NGOs in Taiwan and Canada and various NGOs and private institutions in Chennai, India. Director-General Charles Li appreciated the unique significance of this model inclusive of all stakeholders and was committed to close monitoring of its progress and result.
