At the Taiwan-Singapore Film Industry Exchange organized by the Ministry of Culture on 17 July 2017, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang spoke about Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy in his opening remarks, and encouraged collaboration between film industry professionals from Taiwan and Singapore. Through promoting joint production and exchange of films, Representative Liang believes that both countries can break new grounds in film-making and, at the same time, facilitate cultural exchange between the peoples.
Taiwanese Director Te-Shen Wei and Singaporean Director Chai Yee Wei were invited by the Ministry of Culture to a dialogue session entitled, “The Life of Films – Dream and Realization” to share their passion in film-making. During the session, Director Wei revealed his plans for a new movie which will be set 400 years ago in Taiwan. The movie sets, props and furniture will be preserved and the area designated as a cultural park for movie-goers to visit and reminisce for the next 50 years or even longer.
In all, over 100 persons from the Taiwan and Singapore’s arts and film industry attended the “Taiwan-Singapore Film Industry Exchange”.
