At the “Taiwan Night” event held on 6 September 2017 in conjunction with the 2017 International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang  conveyed his appreciation to people from all sectors of the Singapore society who have contributed to the success of the exchange program.  The highlight of the evening was none other than the three-part energetic performance presented by the Taiwan Youth ambassadors, which was a delightful showcase of Taiwan’s Chinese culture, its multi-culturalism  and its friendly people.

This year’s 25 Taiwan Youth Ambassadors, who hail from 16 Taiwanese universities, were led by Mr. Victor Chin.  Since their arrival in Singapore on 2 September, they have accompanied volunteers from Tzu Chi Singapore and the Chinese Development Assistance Council to visit Singapore senior citizens and families in need, called on the APEC Secretariat, and attended lessons at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore to gain a better understanding of Singapore's socio-economic and political development.  During their social and classroom interactions, the warmth,  compassion  and vitality of the youth ambassadors were most apparent.   Additionally, in the course of their stay in Singapore, they have learnt more about the Singapore success story, in particular, its efficiency, discipline and racial harmony.

Launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009, the “International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program” seeks to enhance Taiwanese youths’ world views and boost international awareness of Taiwan culture and society. In line with the government’s New Southbound Policy, the 2017 edition is themed New Taiwan Generation, New Southbound Vision.
