On 25 July 2018, Representative Francis Liang Kuo-Hsin presented six scholarship awards, three for the 2018 Taiwan Scholarship and another three for the Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship, to Singaporean recipients at a ceremony held at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.

In his address, Representative Liang highlighted Taiwan’s ongoing focus on its people-centered New Southbound Policy. He hoped that the New Southbound Policy, through encouraging academic and industrial exchanges between Taiwanese and Singaporean youths, will promote greater cross-cultural understanding and prosperity between Taiwan and Singapore.

This year’s three Taiwan Scholarship recipients will be heading to National Taiwan University, Taipei Medical University and the National Taiwan University of Arts to pursue various Master programs, while the three Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship recipients will be pursuing their language studies at the National Taiwan University, the National Taiwan Normal University and the Chinese Culture University.  Present at the awards ceremony were the scholarship recipients, their friends and families, and past scholarship recipients.
