Republic of China (Taiwan) government congratulates Republic of India on conclusion of 17th Lok Sabha election

The government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) extend their congratulations to the government and people of the Republic of India on the successful conclusion of the 17th Lok Sabha election on May 23, as well as to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its election victory and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his reelection.
 
India, which is the largest democracy in the world with about 900 million registered voters, conducted the election in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The election process was widely commended for demonstrating once again India’s strong democratic foundation as well as the Indian people’s staunch support for their democracy and election system.
 
With shared values of freedom, democracy and human rights, Taiwan and India are natural allies as well as important stakeholders in the Indo-Pacific region. India has been a key partner under Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, as evidenced by the continued growth of bilateral exchanges in areas such as the economy and trade, science and technology, culture, education and civil society.
 
Taiwan looks forward to strengthening substantive relations with India on the existing solid foundation and in line with the spirit of cooperation and coprosperity, in order to jointly advance peace, prosperity and development in the Indo-Pacific.(E)
