On behalf of Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, Economic Division Director Jerry K. H. Chen graced the Alumni of Taiwan Universities & Colleges (ATUC)’s 41st anniversary dinner cum presentation of diligent study awards ceremony on 1 June 2019. Other guests included office bearers from the Overseas Community Affairs Council, the Taipei Business Association, the United Chinese Library, the Alumni International Singapore, and the Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities in Malaysia, and officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.

In his address, Director Chen said that in his first four months since arriving in Singapore, he has been touched by the many friends in Singapore who only had praises for Taiwan.  It is, therefore, not surprising that those who have  studied in Taiwan as an overseas student have special feelings and memories of the country.  In addition, as economic and trade ties continue to intensify between the two countries, Director Chen urged those at the event to continue to serve as a bridge of friendship and goodwill between Singapore and Taiwan.

Subsequently, at the ceremony to present “Diligent Study Awards” to elementary, middle and high school students, Director Chen encouraged the students to continually strive for academic excellence, and presented a number of diligence awards and a special S$300 award to the top scorer of the high school category.
