Three TV policy presentations set for presidential election

Three televised policy presentations will be staged later this month for the three candidates contesting the 15th ROC (Taiwan) presidential election, according to the Cabinet-level Central Election Commission Dec. 11.

The first event is set for Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast by Chinese Television System Inc., with the other two on Dec. 25 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. shown by China Television Co. Ltd. and Taiwan Television Enterprise Ltd., respectively.

A similar event is scheduled for vice presidential candidates on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. set to be televised by Taiwan Public Television Service.

According to the CEC, the candidates will each take turns detailing their policy platforms in three 10-minute segments. These will also be broadcast live on the CEC’s website.

Earlier this week, the CEC held a draw to determine which number each candidate would be assigned on the presidential ballot.

People First Party candidate James Soong and his running mate Sandra Yu drew No. 1, with Kuomintang candidate Han Kuo-yu and his VP pick Chang San-cheng drawing No. 2, giving incumbent President Tsai Ing-wen of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party and her running mate Lai Ching-te No. 3.

The presidential and legislative elections will take place Jan. 11, 2020 nationwide. (SFC-E)
