Rules and restrictions geared toward minimizing the risk of coronavirus transmission will be eased starting June 7, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said June 3.
 
Once the changes take effect, passengers taking public transportation are still required to wear surgical masks and undergo temperature screening when entering stations but are allowed to remove masks afterward as long as social distancing can be maintained.
 
Restrictions on eating and drinking on Taiwan Railways Administration and High Speed Rail trains will also be relaxed providing passengers can observe 1.5 meters of social distance or those nearby wear masks.
 
In addition, the TRA will resume standing ticket sales for its Puyuma and Taroko Express lines, while the HSR will offer a maximum of 120 non-reserved tickets per train.
 
At popular tourist attractions such as scenic areas and amusement parks, visitor flow controls will be lifted, with the ministry recommending outdoor activities to members of the public seeking recreation.
 
Along with public transportation stations, post offices will likewise require customers to abide by mask requirements and temperature screenings upon entry and allow removal of masks once inside if proper conditions are met. (TYT-E)
