The 2022 Taiwan Culture and Tourism Promotion Fair was staged Nov. 19-20 in Hanoi, Vietnam to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of representative offices in both countries, according to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam.

Organized in collaboration with the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the event saw around 20 Taiwan businesses showcasing products to nearly 10,000 visitors.

Characteristic Taiwan street snacks such as crispy fried chicken, pork bun, pearl milk tea and red bean cake were offered alongside popular fair games like pinball and hoopla ring toss so that participants could enjoy the taste and fun of Taiwan’s night market culture.

According to TECO, Taiwan’s representative Richard R. C. Shih and Ha Van Sieu, deputy head of the National Administration of Tourism under the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, both gave speeches at the opening ceremony.

A highlight of the celebration was two performances by Tainan-based Ten Drum Art Percussion Group to showcase the country’s indigenous heritage, history, natural scenery and temple culture. The group also gave a performance Nov. 23 in Ho Chi Minh City, according to TECO. (SFC-E)
