Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim issued a joint statement after the second Australia-Malaysia Annual Leaders’ Meeting on March 4 that acknowledged the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and noted that all parties have a stake in conflict prevention. The prime ministers also stressed the need for open communication, reassurance, and transparency. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) welcomes and appreciates the statement.

The government of Taiwan is pleased to see that countries are paying attention to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. We welcome steps taken by other countries to ensure the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region. Taiwan will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all like-minded nations to jointly defend the rules-based international order and promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
