The 2018 International Tour of Taiwan Gourmet Cuisines made its first stop of Australia in Sydney on 16 and 17 August 2018 and impressed Sydneysiders with authentic Taiwanese Cuisines such as braised pork on rice, Taiwanese sausage, stewed beef….just to name a few.
Taiwanese Celebrity Chef Mr. Yu-Chung Hsu, Assistant Professor of Taiwan Shoufu University & the Master Chef of Taiwan Hotel-Tainan Restaurant, and his Sous Chef, Mr. Ren-Chorng Chen traveled all the way from Taiwan not only to serve the most authentic Taiwanese dishes, but also demonstrate how to prepare them.
This event, organized by Ms. Sonia Chen, President of Australian Chinese Traders Federation, and supported by Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Sydney and OCAC in Sydney, was aiming to showcase the diversity and the rich depth of food culture in Taiwan. Furthermore, to bring the people of Taiwan and Australia together through this cultural exchanges, which turned out to be a great success.
Councillors of Willoughby City Council Christine Tuon, Wendy Norton, Judith Rutherford, AM and Brendon Zhu joined the event on 17 August, along with more than 120 participants.
