Representative Anne Hung Attends “2022 Taiwan Higher Education Fair” Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of 2022 Taiwan Higher Education Fair, organized by the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia (FAATUM), was held on August 19, 2022 at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The opening ceremony was hosted by Datuk Dr. Tang Yong Chew, the Chairman of FAATUM and attended by Representative Anne Hung, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, and also honorable guests from Taiwan including Minister Tung Chen-yuan, Overseas Community Affairs Council, Prof. Mon-Chi Lio, Deputy Minister of Education, and members of the Legislative Yuan Mr. Chung, Chia-Pin, Mr. Ho, Mark Chih Wei and Mr. Jang, Chyi-Lu. The Education Fair, one of the largest overseas, received good crowd on first day.

In her remarks, Representative Anne Hung welcomed Malaysian students to study in Taiwan on behalf of the Republic of China government and stated that Taiwan has especially allowed the entry of international students despite the closure of border past two years. Meanwhile, FAATUM and alumni associations have overcome the obstacles amid the pandemic by conducting both online and offline education seminars, to introduce the latest information to students and parents across Malaysia. There were around 13,000 Malaysian students studying in Taiwan in 2021. She also welcomed the fair to take place again after two years of disruption due to the pandemic, which enables representatives from Taiwan’s universities to introduce the latest information to students and parents across Malaysia face-to-face, and hoped the exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia to resume completely soon.
 

2022 Taiwan Higher Education Fair

 

Representative Anne Hung mentioned that Taiwan and Malaysia maintained close relationship over the decades, especially in the areas such as trade, investment, and education. The performance of Malaysian students in Taiwan’s colleges and universities are widely praised by their teachers. More than 80,000 Malaysian alumni have excelled in various fields and served as the bridge for enhancing bilateral relationship between both sides. The exchange of talents will help strengthen the bilateral partnership between Taiwan and Malaysia.

This year the Fair takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Sungai Petani and Johor Bahru from August 19 to 27, with 81 Taiwan universities participating.
