Representative Phoebe Yeh attended the opening ceremony of 2023 Taiwan Higher Education Fair in Penang on April 11, 2023. The guests included YB Law Choo Kiang, the Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly, and Datuk Dr. Tang Yong Chew, chairman of FAATUM. The event was a great success which attracted a capacity crowd.

In her remarks, Representative Yeh highlighted that Taiwan and Malaysia have long been close partners in education. Thus, she welcomed more Malaysian students to pursue their studies in Taiwan. The outstanding achievement of Malaysian students in Taiwan’s colleges and universities are affirmed by their mentors. More than 100,000 Malaysian alumni have succeeded in numerous fields and acted as the bridge to strengthen ties between two regions. She also praised the FAATUM and alumni associations for their long-standing support for Taiwan over the years as well as their contributions to the education of Chinese students in Malaysia.

The fair took place in five cities: Kota Kinabalu, Sibu, Batu Pahat, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang this year, which drew the participation of around 16,000 teachers and students from all over Malaysia.
