Representative Phoebe Yeh signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Malaya and witnessed the signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences on October 30, 2023. The MOU supports a one-year Taiwan Studies Project at Universiti Malaya, starting in October 2023, to continue deepening the bilateral talent cultivation and education cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia.

In her remarks, Representative Yeh stated that Taiwan and Malaysia have enjoyed strong and close relations for decades, especially in the field of education. Two Taiwan Studies Projects were carried out respectively in 2019 and 2020 with support from Universiti Malaya. The Taiwan Studies Project this year will focus on the themes of Taiwan-Malaysia history and the Taiwanese gastronomy culture in Malaysia. It will be implemented by establishing related academic programs, scholar exchanges, writing and publishing Taiwan Studies materials, developing Taiwan Studies-related book collections and digital databases, and holding Taiwan Studies-related academic exchange activities. She hoped that both sides could share a closer bond through ongoing efforts in resources and experiences exchange and nurturing talent together.

The guests included Representative Phoebe Yeh, Professor Dr. Yvonne Lim Ai Lian, Associate Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), Universiti Malaya, Professor Datuk Dr. Danny Wong Tze Ken, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Associate Professor Andri Andriyana, Director of International Relations Centre, Ven Jue Cheng, the Chief Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, Mr. Yau Teck Kong, Chairman of Centre for Malaysian Chinese Studies, and Ms. Charlin Chang, Director of TECO Education Division.
