The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) was informed by the Thailand Trade and Economic Office (TTEO) on April 12 that the government of Thailand has donated NT$1 million to assist with Taiwan’s reconstruction work following the earthquake in Hualien. The donation was made to the Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief bank account set up by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. MOFA sincerely thanks the government of Thailand and the TTEO for their concern for Taiwan and their generous donation to help with postdisaster reconstruction.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara both posted messages of concern on the social media platform X on the day of the earthquake. MOFA again expresses heartfelt appreciation to the government of Thailand for its condolences and assistance. It hopes that the goodwill between Taiwan and Thailand will continue to grow and spread, laying a solid foundation for mutual assistance and cooperation in the international community. (E)
