Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was officially sworn in on June 9. Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India Amb. Baushuan Ger promptly expressed sincere felicitations to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of the government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan), as well as conveying a congratulatory message from President Lai Ching-te.

India successfully completed its parliamentary election recently, with the election process and results garnering widespread attention in the international community. President Lai posted a congratulatory message on the social media platform X. Prime Minister Modi responded, stating that he looked forward to closer ties as the two sides work toward a mutually beneficial economic and technological partnership. This highlighted the growing friendly relations between Taiwan and India.

India is a key partner country in Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. The Taiwan government is more than willing to develop comprehensive, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial cooperation with the new Indian government. Taiwan seeks to deepen the friendship between the two countries; further promote bilateral interactions and exchanges grounded in the already existing solid foundation; and bolster substantive cooperation in domains such as the economy, trade, investment, semiconductor technology, medicine, public health, education, and culture, so as to jointly advance peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
