The 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), hosted by the United States, concluded at noon on November 17 (local time). Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) founder and Leader’s Representative Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀) participated in the full meeting and conveyed Taiwan’s ideas and positions, successfully completing his mission for the AELM.

On the evening of November 14, ahead of his departure for the United States to attend the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) from November 15 to 17 in San Francisco, APEC Leader’s Representative Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀) delivered remarks on his trip.

On the morning of November 13, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening of the 2023 International Forum on Legal Aid. In remarks, President Tsai stated that over the past seven years, Taiwan has striven to promote judicial reform in three respects, those being judicial reform for the people, reform for a professional and impartial judicial system, and reform for diverse participation in the judicial system.

On the morning of November 10, President Tsai Ing-wen attended a press conference before Taiwan’s delegation departs for the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM), which will be held in San Francisco from November 15 to 17. On the morning of November 8, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the opening of the 2023 Taipei Security Dialogue. In remarks, President Tsai stated that Taiwan’s security is tied to the security of the Indo-Pacific and the world, and that the people of Taiwan are determined to protect our own hard-earned freedoms and democracy.

On the morning of November 7, President Tsai Ing-wen met with the winners of the 2023 Golden Merchant Awards, which were this year given to Taiwan’s outstanding entrepreneurs, foreign commerce agencies, foreign firms, traditional stores, and Taiwanese pastry shops.

On the morning of October 30, President Tsai Ing-wen addressed the opening of the Taiwan International Assembly of Space Science, Technology, and Industry (TASTI). President Tsai said that our government is making concerted efforts to create a favorable environment for the development of space industry in Taiwan, and that the budget, legal frameworks, and infrastructure for the development of this industry have gradually fallen into place.

On October 21 Presidential Office Spokesperson Olivia Lin (林聿禪) announced that President Tsai Ing-wen has invited Dr. Morris Chang (張忠謀), founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), to act as her representative to attend the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) to be held in San Francisco from November 15 to 17.

President Tsai Ing-wen presented the biennial Presidential Culture Awards to five individuals and groups Oct. 17 in Taipei City, praising their contributions in promoting national development through achievements in their respective fields.
